(Ramsay's Terrific Tag-a-long Adventure Tour of Tasmania)

A good nights sleep and a leisurely breakfast during which
we deposited a DSOA sticker next to the existing MG one on
the pub's fridge. Then it was time to return to the Port Arthur
site for a photo session. Steve organised for the authorities
to kindly allow us to park our cars on the grass in front
of the penitentiary. We then viewed the Devils Kitchen and
the Tasman Arch on the way to Sorell.
The 'convoy' split up at Port Arthur and our convoy of 1
continued to the Golden Arches restaurant at Sorell where
we again. We passed a few Datos going the wrong way and a
few locals going our way. At Macca's we again met up with
'Mike the bike rider' and he asked us, if we saw another pair
of riders called Brendan and Wendy, to wish them well as they
had just got married. We passed them about 5kms south of Bucklands
and threw them a quick congratulatory call as we zoomed by.
One point of interest on our way to Bicheno was the Spiky
Bridge. It was a great drive cruising along the coastline,
top down and sun shining. A couple of vineyards were visited
on the way.
One of our convoys stopped for lunch at Swansea. Some of
the Tassie towns are so small that the idea of feeding 8 people
at once is a major challenge. At this particular place the
cook/waitress was so flustered that she jumped at Julia's
offer to help out making the drinks and serving the meals!.
We arrived at Bicheno at around 5pm and enjoyed some seafood
and more light refreshments at the fisherman's bar. While
some were finishing their meal, a few of us walked across
to the water to look at Fairy Penguins and were rewarded for
our time and patience with a couple of close encounters with
these amazing little animals. Needless to say we were all
excited after a great days drive.
