THE RaTTAToT TOUR

Report by Haydn and Nan
Launceston - Looking, Laughing, Lunching and a trip to Longford.
Launceston hosts the national auto museum so an early morning
start saw everybody checking out some of Australia's best
motorcycle and car history.
Then it was off to Cataract Gorge for a BBQ lunch and cake
to celebrate Jan's birthday. The gorge is a stones throw from
the centre of town and really worth a visit. The groups went
in different directions - some stayed in town, some returned
to the Tamar. Our group visited a pub in the town of Longford
which is the centrepiece of the famous Longford racing circuit
of the 1960's.
Finding a photograph of Doug Whiteford racing his Datsun 2000,
hanging above the bar made the trip very worthwhile. Then
back to Launceston via Carrick where we found a wonderful
craft shop with everything made of copper.
It was hard to believe or contemplate than this was our last
night in Tassie.
